What is The Champions Journey?

The Champions Journey is an advanced training for those ready to bring PAUSE for Self-Leadership to their community and integrate it in their professional toolbox as a leader, coach or educator. The Champions Journey consists of two courses:

CHAMPIONS I: Introduce PAUSE and guide your community to become familiar with the model starting with one practice at a time, nourishing an intentional community culture for all.

  • Learn how to inform staff, leadership and others about the benefits of PAUSE. 

  • Prepare to facilitate SLC events at the “Inquiry” and “Inspiration” level.

  • Access and become familiar with the SLC library of PAUSE practices, resources, and exercises.

  • Expand your skill to be a Self-led facilitator and nurture Self-Leadership in the learning space.

  • Develop capacity to give and receive Self-led feedback with courage, clarity and calm.

  • Discover how you can apply PAUSE practices to meet the unique needs, context and culture of your community. 

CHAMPIONS II: Deepen your fluency with the PAUSE process to integrate IFS principles at all levels of interaction in group and organizational systems.

  • Learn and practice the application of the 5 steps of the PAUSE process for myriad levels of interpersonal dynamics: mediation, intervention, group decision making, learning processes, change management and more.

  • Enhance knowledge of underlying principles in PAUSE to build confidence to fluidly adapt and apply the model in assorted disciplines, contexts and cultures. 

  • Understand the systemic application of PAUSE to guide organic and sustainable integration of PAUSE for a Self-led community.

Both courses are infused with deepening PAUSE practices and study aimed to enhance your personal and interpersonal growth and readiness to step into your personal power as a leader in your community.

Prerequisites:

  • Dedication to personal development of Self-Leadership and sustained practice of PAUSE.

  • Completion of The Essential PAUSE for Self-Leadership Course

Champions I: PAUSE Practices Facilitation Training

What you will receive in this training:

  • Facilitation training to lead your community in:

    • Inquiry Events: Introduction to PAUSE workshop 

    • Inspiration Practices from the PAUSE Activity Menus (PAMS) to be applied for adults and/or children

  • Access to the SLC Library of Resources for Inquiry and Inspiration Level for one year.

    • Introduction to PAUSE teaching material sharing the basics of PAUSE with adults and students.

    • PAUSE Activity Menus (PAMs). Resources to lead micro practices, brief lessons, experiential exercises with adults and students to deepen their understanding and skill to apply PAUSE by delving into one element at a time.

Champions I consists of six modules as follows:

  • During this session you will:

    • Set intentions for individual and collective goals.

    • Deepen understanding of the PAUSE model for Self-Leadership.

    • Orient to the SLC curricular materials. 

    • Begin exploration around facilitation and communication of the PAUSE model.

  • During these  sessions you will:

    • Continue to deepen integration and understanding of PAUSE and UBAC through self-reflection and group work. 

    • Practice facilitating PAUSE exercises from the curricular framework. 

    • Engage in Self-led Self-Assessments and Self-Led feedback practices through exploration of essential elements for effective teaching and learning of PAUSE

  • During this session you will:

    • Practice introducing PAUSE to others. 

    • Explore and express statements of meaning and growth. 

    • Develop concrete Self-led Action plans for moving forward.

Champions II: PAUSE Process Facilitation Training

Practice skills to implement the steps of PAUSE and U-BAC in school and community settings with colleagues and students.

  • Understand interpersonal dynamics through Self Leadership/ IFS principles and apply this knowledge using the PAUSE model and U-BAC for everyday interactions.

  • Practice effective response to acute and on-going interpersonal conflict and challenges with young people and adults. 

  • Appreciate the application of PAUSE as a group process for discussion, decision making, learning and change management.

  • Consider how to apply the PAUSE model for community development, organizational policy, practice and culture shift.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • PAUSE for Self-Leadership is inspired by the fundamental principles of Internal Family Systems, but this is not therapy nor is it meant to substitute therapy. This course does not equip you to deliver IFS therapy, rather it provides you with training to bring PAUSE for Self-Leadership practices to your community for everyday relationships. 

  • Yes, upon completion of Champions I, you are welcome to teach and guide others in learning the PAUSE model using the resources provided by SLC to offer Inquiry and Inspiration learning events.

  • There will not be any exams per se. There will be methods of assessments to confirm your familiarity with the elements of PAUSE and the SLC curriculum, your skill as a facilitator, as well as your relationship awareness of your parts as a facilitator and presenter. These assessments are designed for your benefit and growth as a facilitator and PAUSE practitioner. 

    • You can enroll in Champions II. 

    • You can apply to become a TA for an Essential PAUSE course 

    • You can join the SLC Champions Community for in-depth practice and connection.

  • Given the structure of the course, it is NOT recommended that you miss any of the live course time.   You can miss one session or a total of 4 hours of live training and still receive the certificate of completion.

  • Yes, all participants will receive a certificate of completion if they participated in at least 5 of the 6 live sessions. At this time, we do not provide formal certification or CEUs.

  • Yes, all participants will need to dedicate time towards their own application of PAUSE in their life, preparation for their presentations, study of the curricular framework and connecting with practice partners. It is recommended that you spend 1-2 hours per week engaging with these components during the three month long gaps between sessions.

  • No, all Essential PAUSE graduates are welcome to take either Champions I or Champions II first depending on schedule and interest.
